In our exhibition “Green Clover and Dynamite – Nitrogen and Life” many unique exhibits tell the story of nitrogen. We explain the biological importance of nitrogen, its ecological implications and its political relevance. Medieval alchemists' laboratories and saltpeter collectors are contrasted with modern “high tech”. Numerous interactive elements make this unusual substance as well as its history comprehensible. The exhibition is suitable for visitors of all ages from 8 years up.
The exhibition shows that the history of nitrogen has been increasingly determined by people. The future also depends on us, on our technical imagination and our political courage. While a hundred years ago it was a question of overcoming limits, in the future it will be a question of setting limits - limits to ourselves where natural limits have been removed.
